Winter wonderland birdwatching package

February 4th - 7th 2018

Join award-winning operator Northern Experience Wildlife Tours for a four-day birdwatching spectacle.

Staying at The Bamburgh Castle Inn, enjoy three nights dinner, bed and breakfast and two days guided birdwatching on the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, which encompasses both Holy Island and many miles of unspoilt coastline.

This is an excellent destination both during migration periods and particularly in the winter when vast flocks of wildfowl, including almost the entire Svalbard breeding population of Pale-bellied Brent Geese, create a stunning mosaic on the coastal mudflats.

Day One

After checking in at the Bamburgh Castle Inn after 16:00, you'll have chance to recover from your journey before meeting up with our guide and other holiday participants at 18:30 in the bar.

Day Two

We visit the stunning post-industrial landscape of Druridge Bay and the southeast Northumberland coast, in search of wintering waders, wildfowl and other species that have arrived for the winter. On returning to your accommodation there will be time to relax before dinner.

Day Three

We journey north to the Lindisfarne NNR to observe the large flocks of waders and geese including almost the entire Svalbard-breeding population of Pale-bellied Brent Geese. On returning to your accommodation there will be time to relax before dinner, followed by an informal question and answer session, where you can test your group leader with any wildlife questions that you may have.

Day Four

This tour concludes after breakfast on the final morning, with departure by 10:00.

  • Free pick-up and drop off service available from Morpeth or Alnmouth railway station.

£375 per person. No single person supplements. Includes all transport and packed lunches.
